Are You Wearing The Correct Sports Bra?

Ladies, did you know that 80% of women are wearing the wrong size sports bra? Some women even wear two sports bras because they can’t find the right support. When was the last time you bought a new sport bra? If you can’t remember or if any of this sounds familiar, then you may be wearing the wrong size bra! The general rule to replace a bra is every 6 months. Sports bras won’t always stretch out like an everyday bra, so it can be harder to tell how long it’s been until you put on a new one.

It can be difficult looking at bras online (or even in a store) because of all the confusing choices. Racer back, medium impact, high impact, crossback, openback, this brand, that brand, etc. If you’re not sure what type you need or you haven’t been fit recently (or ever!) go to your local running store. Their knowledgeable staff will fit you and point you in the right direction. If you don’t feel comfortable being fit for a bra in person, the general rule will be the same size as your everyday bra. Make sure you try it on before buying! Like everything, a general rule is just that, general, it doesn’t always work for everyone and some will fit differently than others. Many local running stores even have a bra sizing night or Lady’s Night. A sports bra tech will be there to size you as well as answer any and all questions.

Here’s another tip: don’t put your sports bra in the dryer! It will ruin the compression/molds. So treat them like you do your everyday bras. Wash them in a pillow case and hang them to dry. Lastly, don’t stress…There are sports bras for EVERY size! Big, small or anywhere in between, you’ll be covered!

Happy Running!
